(like Al already said) the float bowl is running out of gas faster than it can be re-filled. if there's a blockage in that screen filter, it will impede the fuel flow.

Had the same problem with my Chevelle (Holley 750) and still the same problem with the Quadrajet on my 442. 3-4 days or more the bowl is bone dry and requires pump/crank, pump/crank, etc. until the bowl fills up.
