Easy and hard axis magnetization
WebIn a two-dimensional easy-plane Heisenberg model with a magnetic field along the hard axis, switching between different vortex states (parallel and antiparallel to the field) was studied by means of a Monte Carlo simulation. The vortex-core magnetization appears to be conserved, whether a magnetic field is present or not. WebThe anisotropy field separating the easy and hard axes is 13 T, unexpected for the Mn ions with nominally negligible orbital momentum and spin-orbit interactions.

The hard axis loop, where the hard axis is at right angles to the easy axis, is more or less linear and generally hysteresis free, i.e., the magnetization is reversible. Magnetic materials that show a preferential direction for the alignment of magnetization are said to be magnetically anisotropic.
WebFirst of all, significant EB of the order of ∼200 Oe is induced which means that Fe magnetization forced by the external field to align with its hard axis, imprints the CoO spins orientation parallel to Fe[0 0 1] direction as the system passes its Néel temperature. Importantly, not only impact of ferromagnet on antiferromagnet is observed ...
